Talat Market

ABOUT

Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines. But I feel like the Thai food in Atlanta is mediocre. Talat Market helps to fill this void. The dishes I’ve tried at Talat Market are very different from what you get at your traditional Thai restaurants. For example, I have yet to see Pad Thai on the menu. However, the flavors are all there, just elevated.

Most of their pop-up tenure was spent at Gato in Candler Park, but following the end of this pop-up series, they have held pop-ups at various farmer’s markets and have also collaborated with a lot of other restaurants/chefs in Atlanta. I went to the Thai-Muslim pop-up collaboration at Chai Pani in January and it was delicious!

The team behind Talat Market is led by co-owners Parnass Savang and Rod Lassiter. Chef Parnass’ parents have a restaurant in Lawrenceville called Danthai that inspired Chef Parnass to start this pop-up/venture. I still haven’t tried Danthai but I hope to try it soon!

Talat Market’s pop-up has also received a lot of national recognition in 2018 from both the James Beard Foundation & Bon Appetit. And good news, they are opening up a brick and mortar this upcoming summer in the Summerhill neighborhood, so you can get it anytime you want!

FAVORITES

I can’t recommend what to order, because the menu has been different every single time I’ve been!
