Bread is Good
ABOUT
The very first pop-up I went to in Atlanta was Sarah Dodge’s Bread is Good pop-up at Queen of Cream in March of 2018. We live just a short walk from there, so went on a whim and grabbed a strawberry toast to-go. We were hooked after that first bite of toast. We continued to go to the pop-up on back-to-back weekends at Queen of Cream and even brought along a few friends the next time.
Why is it so good? Well, if you can’t tell from the name of the pop-up, the bread is phenomenal - some of the best in the city. So I was happy to hear that she started a bread delivery service in late 2018. We have ordered bread two times and it’s worth the $10. It’s a giant loaf - like bigger than your face!
Sarah Dodge has also collaborated with one of my other favorite pop-ups, Korean Fusion. I went to the one in January and the collaboration was a success from my perspective.
More recently, Sarah Dodge has been baking from Ammazza in Edgewood and has been hosting pickups for bread, bagels & cinnamon rolls on weekends. Check out her website & the ATL Events page for more information. And for more on Sarah Dodge, there is a great article on her by Atlanta Magazine (which is how I first found out about her pop-ups) talking about her transition from the pastry chef at 8 Arm to pop-ups.
FAVORITES
I don’t think there is anything I have disliked from the Bread is Good pop-ups, but my favorite dishes have been the biscuits, cinnamon rolls, french toast, wood-fired bagels & savory toast.
For the bread delivery, we have ordered both the olive & regular Pain Au Levain. I liked the Pain Au Levain more, but I have yet to try the jalapeño cheddar, which is next on my list.
