Brunch at Hen Mother Cookhouse was a pleasant surprise. I read and heard a lot of good things about this place, but it’s a 35 minute drive from where I live in Inman Park, so took me forever to finally try it. The menu choices reminded me a lot of Buttermilk Kitchen, but I enjoyed this a lot more! They recently renovated in July. I’m not sure what it looked like before, but I liked their white and wood-tone decor.

We waited thirty minutes for a party of three on a Sunday, which was really reasonable. The place probably had enough seating for 40 people inside and about 25 people outside, so the wait times shouldn’t be a huge issue. But the best part is, you can get breakfast everyday of the week (except Monday). The weekend brunch menu is slightly different than what’s offered on weekdays, but still plenty of good options.

While they do have some “healthy-ish” items on the menu, you should expect to indulge in this meal. The portions are huge, so make sure you share. The cinnamon roll with pecan & cream cheese frosting is the perfect sweet starter, but eat it while it’s hot. And the Brioche French Toast served in a cast iron skillet is as thick and good as it looks. Ours was stuffed with blueberries, whipped cream and what felt like some sort of condensed milk syrup. Wear your stretchy pants!
