Atlanta Quarantine Eats Guide
Several people have asked me which restaurants / coffee shops in Atlanta are implementing responsible Covid-19 safety procedures for take-out. So I decided to outline every restaurant, pop-up, and coffee shop that I’ve personally been to since May and document their ordering/pickup procedures + more (aka a personal COVID-19 Safety Checklist). Please keep in mind that things are changing daily/weekly. If you think I’ve misrepresented something, then just let me know!
Everyone has a different risk tolerance, so I’m hoping that this will allow you to pick and choose your level of comfort (for example although payment may be contactless for take-out, the restaurant may be open for indoor dining, etc.).
Anyways, this outlines (mostly) everything you would want to know about ordering, payment, pick-up procedures, dine-in options, and even highlights of my favorite bites! It also references my Quarantine Eats blog series that details my Atlanta take-out experiences further. I’ll refresh this page once every month, so keep checking back!
Key terms for Covid-19 Checklist
Please read this before you move on!
CURBSIDE - Curbside means the restaurant will bring it directly to your car. Please wear a mask (yes even in your own car - dummy!)
DINING - Outlines whether restaurants are open for indoor/outdoor dining.
ONLINE - This just means you can order directly from the restaurant’s website. Some restaurants use third-party services like Chow Now, Odeko (f/k/a Cloosiv), Toast, etc, which may be helpful to download!
TOUCHPOINT SCORE - A touchpoint score (“TPS”) refers to the number of surfaces one may encounter such as opening a door, handing your credit card to staff, touching the payment pad, using their pen, and touching a door to exit the restaurant. If you have a low risk tolerance then your goal would be to frequent places with a TPS of zero (0) or come prepared with gloves or your own pen/stylus to lower the risk. For any restaurants reading this, you can easily reduce your TPS by…
Installing a “foot pull” door lever;
Sanitizing pens in front of the customer; and,
Offering to complete the touchpad transaction for you or placing gloves next to the touchpad.
WALK-UP - Walk-up means that you can pick-up your order outside the restaurant.
WALK-IN - Walk-in means that you physically need to walk into a restaurant to grab your order.
Guide
I’ve covered 94 Atlanta take-out spots in this post (with more coming soon), so it’s a long one! I’ve organized them into eight categories based on meal type (click on the picture icons for easier navigation to the different sections). You can always Ctrl + F if you want to search for something specific (e.g., cuisine - Thai, location - Old 4th Ward, etc.)! Some restaurants may appear in multiple categories.
